OSCC is the single point of reference that will guide, facilitate, coordinate and monitor the implementation of OSS in the Malaysian Public Sector. The OSCC spearheads and supports the adoption of OSS: ♦ To provide the direction in the development and use of OSS ♦ To create greater awareness on OSS ♦ To provide information, expertise and physical infrastructure to support OSS implementation ♦ To facilitate collaboration between the Government and OSS industry in the areas of education and research & development ♦ To position Malaysia as a world class OSS technology hub ♦ To contribute to the development of local OSS expertise The OSCC started operations in June 2004 and provides the following services: ♦ Promotion & Awareness – create greater awareness, promote OSS and OSCC ♦ Technical Support – facilitate, coordinate, advise and assist public sector agencies in OSS implementation ♦ Training & Certification – conduct and coordinate OSS training and certification programmes for public sector personnel ♦ Policies & Guidelines – formulate OSS policies, guidelines and standards to facilitate OSS implementation ♦ Research & Development – conduct, facilitate, coordinate and monitor OSS research and development programmes ♦ Knowledge Bank – maintain a knowledge bank for sharing of OSS knowledge and experiences
